Is it Time to Install a New Driveway?

Are you staring at your driveway as you read this? Have you been looking at it day in day disconsolately, wishing it looked better? Then perhaps it’s time to install a new driveway and have something new and special, something that will give you functionality, longevity, style and practicality.

A stylish driveway

This is a service we supply here at Brian’s Garden and Fencing. We can design and install a driveway you’ll get years of use out of, what’s more we’ll make sure it’s within your budget as well as your taste. We can discuss materials, different design options making sure it meets with your requirements and matches the exterior of your home. We’ll discuss a timescale with you and keep you informed of progress.

Increase your property’s value

A new driveway can make all the difference to the appearance of your entrance and increase the curb appeal of your home. This will add value to your property, and this is especially good news if you are considering selling in the future. By creating a new driveway, you’re potentially increasing the space as well as providing less opportunity for grass and weeds to grow through. This can look unsightly as well as providing ample opportunity to trip and fall.

Choose from a wide range of designs and materials

There are many different materials you can use for your driveway. However, before you choose, you’ll need to consider your budget, which we’ve mentioned briefly above, and how long it will last, and of course how much upkeep and maintenance is required once it’s installed. There are pros and cons to every material but we’ll go through some of them so you can have a think about what’s right for you.

Gravel is popular but isn’t great for children because they can either put it in their mouths or dig with it, both of which are not particularly ideal. One of the benefits is that it’s easy to install and relatively simple to maintain. It matches different house styles well so regardless of what shape or style your home is, gravel should work. However, it can get dusty and doesn’t survive snow or frost very well.

Asphalt is great if you’re on a budget and is easy to maintain, with good longevity. However, it’s not that durable and needs to be resealed every few years. It also requires resurfacing so there’s a lot of time and work involved.

Concrete is popular and it can be made to create several different styles so it’s quite versatile. You need someone with experience to install it because it can crack if it’s not constructed the right way. It’s durable and very easy to maintain and can last anything up to 40 years. Concrete isn’t cheap however, so if you’re on a budget this may not be for you, and if repairs are required it can be a difficult and complex job.

Monoblocking provides a variety of different styles and colours to choose from for your driveway and is one of the materials we provide. You’ll need to think about the type of weather you have and whether you’re allowed to have this particular type of driveway e.g. is your property listed?
