Why Springtime is Great For Laying New Garden Turf

Spring is the perfect time for laying new garden turf. There are many reasons for this, which we will go into more detail in the course of this post. What we want you to know is that we have a friendly and experienced team here at Brian’s Garden and Fencing Services, and we know that with our professional approach we can help to get you the best out of your new garden turf, making the most out of the space you have, while also making sure we do the job to time and with the minimum of fuss. We’ll keep you updated throughout the job so you know exactly where we are up to.

The ground is soft, malleable and adaptable to change

Laying garden turf in spring is great because the soil is warm and moist rather than hard and frozen as it is in winter. This means we can prepare the ground much easier due to the warmer surface as it’s more malleable and adaptable to our touch. It’s also easier to look after newly lain garden turf in the warmer months, so it’ll be less of a headache for you.

Mowing and reseeding

We usually advise that you mow your lawn after about a month, this gives it time to bed in. Reseeding may take slightly longer. Once your garden turf has been installed, you’ll be glad you did because it’ll give your garden the makeover it deserves, thus making it much easier to maintain, more enjoyable to spend time in and give it a more uniform and elegant look.

Prepare the garden for summer

It may seem like an upheaval, and although you know your garden needs a new lawn badly, you may have been putting it off for some time. Remember that during the warmer spring weather, your garden is going to heal and repair itself much quicker than it would in winter. Removing the current lawn may seem like such an undertaking, but we do this sort of thing all the time, and we can do it quickly, without fuss and to time, so you have nothing to worry about.

Gives time to let garden turf settle before summer use

By having a new garden turf installation now in the warmer spring months when the ground is easier to work, it means that once the warmer months come in summer, you’ll be ideally placed to enjoy it. Spring can still give you the odd chilly, wet day, but by doing it now, it’s ready for summer. Leaving it until the hot weather means you may not be able to sit out in it right away as it needs to settle, thus losing out on warm weather. Spring, therefore, is ideal for laying out new turf.
